Suiker Unie and ISO 26000

Suiker Unie and ISO 26000

together a 'sweet sensation'

Suiker Unie (part of Cosun) is more than three years active with the application of ISO 26000. The CSR priority setting of the 37 issues has thoroughly being carried out with the issue-matrix tool. Stakeholders of all categories have been consulted. The ISO 26000 Self Declaration (based on Dutch standard NEN NPR 9026) has been published. Informing and involving all the employees is one the main attention points.

Director Research & Development, Frank van Noord indicates:

ISO 26000 has helped us to make clear what we are doing well and were the CSR challenges are. Suiker Unie is now better equiped to focus the CSR policy and communication, to those issues that are really important for us and our stakeholders. Our Plant & Planet sustainability programme is important.

The bio based economy and green gas production activities are good examples. Suiker Unie has experienced that ISO 26000 is a good and helpful guidance standard and has supported the ISO 26000 Congress 2013 in The Netherlands.

Satelliet Meubelen

Satelliet Meubelen

Satelliet Meubelen offers indoor and outdoor hospitality furniture solutions with the accent to inspiration and look & feel.

By using ISO 26000 Satelliet has a better feeling to make the right choices for CSR. Our customer needs for sustainability are very divers, because we offer solutions for different branches: cafe and restaurant, hotel, leisure, office, retail, care & cure, education and Conference & Banqueting.

Robin Willemse, Director Procurement & Logistics says:

‘To sustain our portfolio we are dependent for a great part of our suppliers. ISO 26000 helps us to have a proper dialogue with our suppliers.

Its happens more than once that we do not know each others CSR needs and possibilities. Do not start demanding CSR requirements, but start an open dialogue as ISO 26000 indicates.’

Intertaste

Intertaste

gives ISO 26000 more taste

Intertaste has analysed her CSR priorities and activities with the use of ISO 26000. The Food & Agribusiness expedition of CSR Netherlands (MVO Nederland) was the starting point. It appears that Intertaste fulfils an interesting position in the food value chain. Intertaste functions with her tasteful spices ‘at the background’, however Intertaste can exercise quite some sustainable influence on the food value chain.

CSR Co-ordinator Aldert van de Kamp states:

‘ISO 26000 and the Self Declaration has helped us to make clear what our position is regarding CSR. This gives a stimulating effect and offers chances in the CSR dialogue with our customers, farmers, traders and producers.’

Waterschap Aa en Maas

Waterschap Aa en Maas

with ISO 26000 in water management

Waterschap Aa en Maas from Den Bosch – water treatment, flood defences, water management and stimulation of biodiversity in and around water - is the first water board that has published a Self Declaration, after starting applying ISO 26000 in 2010.

General Director Piet Sennema: ‘Social responsible entrepreneurship is grounded into our DNA. By using ISO 26000 and publishing a Self Declaration we can prove our social responsibility in a structured and transparent way.’

Waterdrinker

Waterdrinker

ISO 26000 inspires European plant wholesaler & distributor

Waterdrinker Aalsmeer is a wholesale company and distributor with a full and wide range of plants (largest in Europe), including many specials, novelties and ‘forgotten’ plants.

QHSE Manager Ines van der Boon says:

'The nice part of ISO 26000 is that it helps me – in my position as QHSE Manager to explain CSR to the organization in a structured way. With space for a customized approach and own ambition. We have investigated existing and new CSR activities. We also have spent time to publish a Self Declaration. We intensify our CSR communication with breeders, growers, customers and government. It results already into more interest and appreciation and this is very stimulating for everyone. '

Saver

Saver

gives waste more value with ISO 26000

Saver focusses - as a waste processor - on quality, safety, environment and sustainable business processes. Sustainable reuse of waste materials is one of the priorities. Sustainable innovation is also important like the introduction of the E-tainer: compact containers for city Roosendaal to gather smal electronic waste products.

General Director Wil van Leijsen indicates:

‘We were looking for some time for a guidance tool that could help us applying CSR in an integrated way. An approach that also functions at our contacts with business customers, city governments and other organization within the waste value chain. ISO 26000 has surprised us and gives a decent framework. A group of enthusiastic employees that volunteered, started with applying ISO 26000. The questions of the Self Declaration helped us to decide which CSR evidence and practical examples we want to have. It is a fascinating learning and growing process for all of us.’
